Fillers and Facts:
Restylane
When you pull up to your dermatologist’s office for a lip injection or a bit of filler, have you ever wondered about what exactly is going into your body? For most of us, the answer is no. We want beautifully shaped lips and flawless brow lines, and don’t want to be confused by the chemical mumbo jumbo that we feel we would need a doctorate to understand.
As cosmetic procedures become more advanced, there are a growing number of products and formulas being marketed towards cosmetic surgeons, each with their own strengths and drawbacks. With so many varieties out there, it’s important to stay informed on which filler is right for you and what you want it to achieve.
Restylane
Restylane is a family of hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers that can help smooth out wrinkles and add volume to cheeks and lips.
Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the human body and is found in our connective tissue, making Restylane a natural procedure with minimal risk of irritating the skin.
Types of Restylane
Restylane is designed to target any and all wrinkles and folds around the face. These can include laugh lines, under eye folds, lip lines, and brow creases.
Restlyne Defyne and Restylane Refyne are designed to smooth away moderate to deep smile and laugh lines.
Restylane Silk acts as a lip enhancement and also serves to smooth away lines around the lips.
Restylane Lyft works to add volume in the cheeks as well as can help to reverse the signs of volume loss and aging in the backs of the hands.
How Restylane Works
Restylane adds volume to the skin to replace lost collagen, giving your skin a youthful look. Additionally, the hyaluronic acid in Restylane attracts water to the skin where it’s been placed, helping your skin look fuller for longer.
Cost of Restylane
Restylane is one of the more affordable fillers on the market, averaging out between $275-$700 cheaper than other leading fillers (Including Juvederm).
Restylane has the consistency of a granular gel. The particles in the gel add structure to the product, making it more effective than other options (namely Juvederm) at providing and maintaining volume to the face (i.e. cheeks and lips). This consistency can also add to the longevity of certain procedures.
Why Restylane?
With so many filler formulas out there, you should discuss your options with your doctor. Restylane’s unique formulas and properties make it an excellent choice for patients who are looking for high volume at low cost.
